With the cries for banning of pro Palestinian groups and chants and protests--and of course not forgetting the prior outcries from many of those now being banned who in the past were calling for censorship of other forms of “hate speech” themselves--we see how often freedom of speech is used and misused as a weapon of political grievance. It’s easy to support the right to air views you cherish or even tolerate. It’s when you support the right to air views that you despise that you show your courage and your principles. Kudos for your work and your mettle on this
Yes! The historical precedents for cancelation go back even further to the Massachusetts colonial Antinomian Controversies of 1636-1637 which contested the Puritan orthodoxy and led eventually to our founders wise separation of church and state.
