Greg, thank you and everyone at FIRE for all that you do. If FIRE wants to make use of this essay that I wrote about the first cancelled American and how he was critical to the development of free speech and toleration, please do: https://aaronkheriaty.substack.com/p/the-first-cancelled-american

It’s entirely right to be cynical here. If profs and students with neo-Nazi beliefs were making the same types of statements, these same universities would be shutting them down right quick.

If you take the Sam Abrams position, even a new administration can never enact a neutral policy without being accused of bowing out at the wrong time. Something always has people riled up, and natural disasters (!) do disrupt travel, including travel to campus. (In the olden days, when Hurricane Hugo hit as my brother was starting med school in Charleston, students just coped.)

First time seeing this FIRE movement, have you guys been working on getting colleges to raise their de facto bans on conservative speech?

Dude, I’ve been doing this 22 years, we’ve helped literally thousands of students and professors. You might want to start by reading my first book Unlearning Liberty, but also my next book Canceling of the American Mind covers a lot of ground

Cool! I might check it out!

As a long time supporter I can attest that Greg and his predecessors have been on the task for decades, with many very notable successes to their credit. They are to go- to organization for fighting oppression off free speech on campus. 👏👏👏

The people of Gaza: No more food, water or electricity until you turn over the hostages and the leaders of Hamas.

The people of Israel: No more American aid until you withdraw the West Bank and Golan Heights settlements.

...they withdrew from Gaza in 2005. Tough luck on Golan Heights though. If Hamas (or any potential enemy) took those mountains they could easily kill everyone in Israel. Hence, why they don’t give it up.

Koltin: A good response. Maybe leave the military but no settlements. I think it makes a difference in perception.

Just the same question, again, why are semites, or people who defend semites, being accused of antisemitism?
