As a lecturer / prof I been suspended with pay from a Canadian uni based on complaints by students on a post I made that was very anti Hamas and referred to them as Nazis. The VP seems determined to fire me, the union is supporting me, they have to, I have retained a lawyer and a small Jewish community is providing great support. Screaming free Palestine in the hallways no problem, I have concrete examples of admin and faculty actively defaming me (not with half truths but with crazy made up stuff). Even posting on here is probably not allowed. But I said I stand with Israel and I won't be bullied.

Unfortunately, movements for change require martyrs to be unjustly punished for the bad law, or norm, to be seen as unjust.

Most normal folk avoid being martyrs.

"This is frustrating, and I still haven't seen enough people in the media and on the left reevaluate the last six years and say to themselves, “Oh wow, maybe we were blind to how bad this has been.” Still, I have hope that this may happen for at least some of them."

You can count me among one of those younger left-leaning types who now sees how bad things have gotten on college campuses. I personally didn't witness much of this at the state university I attended (I was in the engineering college) but the things that students have been getting up to on campus (and even high school!) has convinced me that we have a serious problem in our education system. The work that you and professor Haidt have done has been very invaluable for helping me understand what's gone wrong.

I"m with you on the need for free speech, even in its recent iteration as HamasLove (even if they don't quite get who Hamas is). But still, the shouting mob walking by a bunch of Jewish students is indeed bullying and clearly against the university's rules. And that's where the unfairness and hypocrisy and oppressor/oppressed iniquity started. So those rules should never have been made. I hope they realize that.

I'd still like to know in what context is advocating for genocide okay with the big wigs at Harvard.

"back when being liberal was synonymous with supporting freedom of speech"

It's been clear for decades that the liberals' (i.e. leftists') support for freedom of speech was always operational: “When I am weaker than you, I ask you for freedom because that is according to your principles; when I am stronger than you, I take away your freedom because that is according to my principles.”

The phrase" from the river to the Sea" is deeply rooted in many old testament passages. So it is much more than a geographical reference.

It is illegal, but hard to prove, for a college to discriminate against hiring Republicans as professors. Colleges with less than 30% of Republicans should lose tax exemptions.

Peaceful, verbal disagreement is what Free Speech is about, like US Congress.

Having Republicans as professors will immediately increase free speech, and reduce demonization.
