Congrats on the 10th birthday of the article that started it all!

I watched the documentary adaptation of The Coddling, and it helped me find peace with a lot of what happened to me during high school. I've since become actively involved in its Substack community. It's both reassuring and heartbreaking to know I'm not the only one who has been through what I've been through.

Thank you for the work that you do. I wish I knew how to share it with more of my generation. I'm so glad you're fighting to get the word out there.

I LOVED the "Coddling" book!! I shared it with as many people as would listen (which, in my case, isn't many!) I also wish that it had been more influential. I have a really hard time watching what is happening with our youth. I would be very interested in reading your thoughts re the lessons, impact (or lack of) etc. I'm also interested in how you think the book parallels other cultural phenomena in the last decade, particularly the emphasis on feelings vs logic.

Your Coddling book had an incredible impact on the way I view the world. I read it during college when I was being fed both good and terrible ideas. I appreciate you.

Greg -- Thanks for your spot on book. The progression of American culture toward infantilization is quite evident. It is not going to end well unless grown-ups make a return to the academy and successfully reform the environment there and the corollaries on primary education, the media, medicine and just about everywhere else.

You are generally right, but whether this is “standard practice” in media is irrelevant. Also, it would be insane to pretend that CBS isn’t totally biased and dishonest in everything they do. They have a right to be under the First Amendment, and if Trump used the govt to extort a settlement that is obviously terrible precedent and illegal. But let’s not pretend that Trump is wrong in his diagnosis of the media. Finally, is there a definitive piece where you or FIRE expressed similar levels of public outrage against the Censorship Industrial Complex? If so, I missed it and would like to read it.

Lukianoff is getting Trumpian: on one side he says right things and wrights right books, but he also too often self aggrandizes and self congratulates. Importantly, his repeated statements that he is free speech absolutist, so we all should follow, is trivially absolute nonsense. He needs a dose of common sense.

Here's Tim Walz voicing his disdain for free speech: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/e-JL5Szxnzk.

Many criticisms of Trump are valid, but the Democrats are much worse.
