I'm a free speech absolutist and believe that the Truth will win out in the long run. Anything that impedes AI from pursuing the truth will be self-defeating. I'm not that tech savvy but it will soon become garbage in, garbage out and that's exactly what these well intentioned but short sighted laws will achieve.
It's a sign of how far America has sunk from its founding principles, that government considers it perfectly normal and fine for it to try to "regulate" AI. After all, the gov has been sticking its nose here, there, and everywhere for decades, and has gotten the bulk of the populace used to the idea that this is normal.
It's all hubris. AI will advance irrespective of attempts to corral it, and any laws attempting to hold it back will be widely flouted. Which is a good thing. On the bad side, such laws will be selectively enforced, and used for political retribution, and also, like drug laws, will engender disrespect for the law in general.
Free speech does not make the USA fragile. It makes the USA antifragile.
